El término "tuanis" se deriva del "malespín" (argot centroamericano probablemente de origen salvadoreño, que supuestamente fue creado por un general en una guerra), que hace sustituciones simples de letras, por ejemplo, cambia la T por la B, la A por la E y la I por la O. En dicho argot, "tuanis" quiere decir "buenos", y "pelis" (término que ha caído en desuso pero nuestros abuelos aún recordarán) significa "malos". El origen como una derivación de "too nice" es falso.
Ejemplo : "Qué "tuanis" irse a la playa!

Como lo dicen los otros compas, "tuanis" quiere decir bueno, bonito (muy bonito), chiva, agrdadable etc.. Pero tambien lo usamos como una manera mas bonita, amigable y diferente de decir "gracias". La palabra "tuanis" puede tener cualquiera de los significados anteriores dependiendo totalmente del tono en que se diga.
Ejemplo : "Amigo1: Hey me puedes prestar 500 colones($1)?
Amigo2: Claro! tome aqui estan..
Amigo1: Tuanis, mañana te los pago."

Esta palabra ha derivado a algunos albures en donde tuanis se interpreta como Tu anis o tu ano. tambien ha evolucionado hasta convertirse en la palabra tuanicillo que une la palabra tuanis con anicillo (dulce típico chapin), otra palabra es tuanete = tu anete.
Ejemplo : "1- Está bien tuanis.
2- Te quedó bien tuanicillo."
