Dicho o expresión más conocido de Costa Rica. No sólo sirve de repuesta a la pregunta "cómo está?", sino que también se usa para expresar "todo bien", "en orden" y hasta "de acuerdo". También sirve como lema para el Instituto Costarricense de Turismo: "Costa Rica. Pura Vida!" En este caso pretende expresar cierta actidud de ligereza hacia la vida y refleja el estilo de vida de los costarricenses.
Ejemplo : "Diay, cómo va? Todo bien? - Pura vida!
Todo en orden aquí? - Sí, sí, todo pura vida!
Oiga, me presta eso? Mañana se lo traigo. - Sí mae, pura vida."
